What’s the 30 Days of Video Challenge?
Matt’s been interested in exploring more videography (versus mostly photography), and especially improving his editing speed. What’s the best way to improve at something? Challenge yourself to some stupidly huge goal! Matt’s challenge: post 30 videos over 30 days highlighting our end of 2017 (November through December) road trip.
We’ll be posting the videos on our Video Page here and our YouTube Channel, and as each video launches we’ll let you know on our Facebook page and our instagram so follow us there if you want up-to-the-minute-updates.
Yes, we acknowledge just how crazy this challenge is. First, neither of us has vlogged much. Second, it’s winter so the daylight fades quickly. Oh, and we’ll also be LIVING our life aka doing things during the day. But we’re both really excited to get lots of content out there and practice our videography, documenting and storytelling skills.
Where are you guys headed on your road trip?
The exact details of our trip are still TBD, and well, that’s kind of how we like it, but we’re hoping to travel through Northern CA, NV, UT, AZ, and NM. We’ll make time to explore BLM campsites, National Parks. We’ll seek out awesome climbing, hiking, and road biking spots along the way (to make use of our *new* Surly Long Haul Truckers!, and hopefully iron out some kinks before we head to Vietnam for a cross-country tour sometime in 2018). I guess you’ll just have to follow along to see where we end up and what places we discover.
Matt started the project a few days ago. Here’s the first two VLOGs he posted:
VLOG 1: We kick off our trip with some errands in Reno, NV
VLOG 2: We explore some Central Nevada gems, including Lee Hot Springs, Grimes Point & Sand Mountain Recreation Area.
We LOVE hearing from you! Let us know in the comments below (or on YouTube) what you think about the videos. And, of course if you have any special content requests (like you’re really just *dying* to hear about where we poop, more specifics about how our solar setup works, or the best coffee shops in Moab, UT?) let us know!
xoxox, See ya’ll on YouTube!
